It’s hard to believe you could use the word “stunning” when describing a changing mat – but that’s what Jeanie Bird originally set out to achieve when she started The Gilded Bird.

A mum of 3, Jeanie wanted to make essential items in the nursery better – in both look and quality.

Gilded Bird designs are original and exclusive to us. The patterns are hand-painted by British artists. Our textiles - including bedding, muslins and quilts are made with GOTS Organic cotton. You can rest assured that you're getting a premium (and gorgeous!) product for your little one.

Hi! My name is Jeanie. I’m a mum of 3. My son just turned 8 and my twin girls are 6 years old 🙂

I’m a Canadian gal (although I’ve been over here for 13 years now and love it) and my husband is an Aussie.

We’re living on an idyllic farm where I’m surrounded by the stunning English countryside. The countryside really is incredibly beautiful and has provided me with much of the inspiration for the designs on my mats and textiles.

I started The Gilded Bird after realising I was supremely disappointed with the selection of change mats (and many other baby items quite frankly) that were available in mainstream retail.

They were either ugly or flimsy/cheap or both.

 I had spent a lot of time and money on my twin girls’ nursery but my options for essential items like bedding or change mats were plain boring or plain ugly. 

I knew we mums deserved better!

I had an idea in my head for a few changing mat designs and realised I already knew a few VERY talented artisits who have really brought these ideas into reality.

Before long, I went from providing a large range of change mats, to sheets, duvets, quilted playmats and muslin blankets - with more products on the way!
